RNN Group named as a Beacon Award Commended College
RNN Group was delighted to be announced as a Beacon Commended College in the award category of Mental Health and Wellbeing as part of the Association of Colleges Annual Awards.
The Group have received this commendation for the creation of the RNN Inspire programme which focused on supporting learners with their mental health and anxiety following the global pandemic. The programme was created to bring about a shift in learners’ growth mindset with the aim of supporting them to develop a ‘can do’ approach.
The programme started with a Big Bang week during which a variety of external speakers delivered sessions across each of the college sites. Through the power of inspirational and motivational speech and despite these being group sessions, the expert facilitators designed the content so skilfully, facilitated conversations so expertly and created spaces so safe, that in every session students volunteered to share their experiences with each other. Following this, many of the speakers worked directly with students on either a one-to-one or small-group basis to support and develop these important characteristics.
Cheryl Martin, Assistant Principal: Quality and Learner Experience, said of this accolade:
“This has been one of the most rewarding projects I have ever been involved in.
The opportunity of working with these industry experts was extremely rewarding and seeing the way in which they positively transformed learners’ lives was just amazing.
The Learner Experience team and I are very much looking forward to delivering the programme to learners again this year and once again seeing how participation in this programme has a positive impact on their lives.”
Jason Austin, CEO and Principal of the RNN Group, added:
“I could not be prouder of the work gone into this RNN Inspire programme to support learners with their mental health and wellbeing.
This programme has had wonderful benefits for so many of our learners across the group and engaging them to develop a ‘can do’ attitude.
Here at the RNN Group, we firmly believe in ensuring we deliver not just on classroom-based learning, but on those skills needed outside of the classroom and ensuring an inclusive approach for all our learners.”
