Responsible Retailers Respond to Government’s plan for getting us back to work

As the Covid-19 Social Distancing restrictions continue in the UK, responsible retailers are planning ahead for a potentially long future with queues waiting patiently outside their stores, by adding protective marquees to their properties.

Queues outside of supermarkets and food retailers have fast become the accepted norm as the country looks to protect the NHS from another wave of the lethal pandemic, but with growing pressure from the world of business to ease restrictions enough to allow them to return to operating, many shops are planning how best to appeal to passing trade and provide a pleasant experience whilst queuing.

One such retailer is farm shop Calcott Hall, which has gone the extra mile to provide their patrons with a 3m x 12m sheltered space under which to practise responsible social distancing.

Gala Tent Sales Manager, Darren Perry, said, “Everybody has got one eye on the government relaxing the restrictions enough for some shops to open, but we all have a duty to protect our vulnerable members of society as best we can, so must ensure we’re queuing a safe distance apart.”

It’s not just supermarkets and essential produce retailers that are planning responsibly, either,” said Darren.

“Food outlets are already using our marquees and gazebos to provide a shelter from the weather for their own queuing customers, but as more different retailers open, the more queues there’ll be.”

The representative of Calcott Hall Farm Shop said, “We thank everybody for their patience and understand at this time. We can’t change the rules, but with the Gala Tent we can at least make sure everybody is dry whilst they queue outside.”

Jason Mace CEO of Gala Tent said, “The advice on social distancing measures applies to everyone especially retailers. You need to minimise opportunities for the virus to spread by maintaining a distance of 2m. Our Gala Tent Marquees provide the perfect cover whilst queuing outdoors during the unpredictable brush summer.”

Founded in 1999, Gala Tent has grown to sell over 15,000 tents and marquees each year, along with around 90,000 event accessories and furniture products in the UK.

In the UK, Gala Tent is a preferred supplier for organisations including the military, NHS, the South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, South Yorkshire Police Service, St John’s Ambulance and AA, as well as to thousands of homeworkers and homeowners nationally.
