New resort manager welcomed to Gulliver’s Valley
Gulliver’s Valley has appointed Andy Flowers as its new resort manager.
The Rotherham theme park, which has just celebrated its first anniversary and opened a new ‘Gears’ car themed area, has welcomed Andy to his new role which will see him have overall responsibility for the 250-acre site including the day-to-day running of the theme park.
He will also play a major part in the future planning and strategy as the resort looks to develop its offering and build its profile as a leading visitor attraction and events space in the area.
Andy 47, who is from Sheffield and lives with his wife and three children, has spent his career within the leisure industry and joins from the University of Sheffield where he ran two hotels. He has also previously worked as a General Manager at Hollywood Bowl and as Food and Beverage Manager at Owlerton Greyhound Stadium.
Andy said: “I’ve spent my whole career within the leisure and hospitality industry, mainly in South Yorkshire, but so far not specifically in a theme park so I’m really excited about this new challenge. I’m looking forward to bringing my experience to Gulliver’s and building on the work that has already taken place to drive Gulliver’s Valley on to the next level.
“The scope here is incredible as it’s definitely not just a theme park and we are looking at lots of exciting ways to create a real community hub at this venue and provide a whole host of events and activities. We want to make the most of what we have here and become a central part of the local area as well as offer something unique that attracts visitors from far and wide.”
Julie Dalton, managing director of Gulliver’s theme park and resorts, said; “Andy joins us at a really exciting time as we look to move into the next phase for Gulliver’s Valley. We have had incredible support from the local community so far and are already seeing a positive impact on the economy here with over 120 jobs created so far. The pandemic has been a challenge, but we are looking ahead now to maximise the true potential of Gulliver’s Valley.
“We know Andy will be a really valued member of our team and we welcome him to the Gulliver’s family.”
Gulliver’s Valley opened in July 2020 and is the fourth theme park in the Gulliver’s Theme Park Resorts family. Aimed at children between the ages of two and 13-years-old, it houses more than 30 rides and attractions, including an Apache Falls ride, full-size diggers, the Ghostly Galleon pirate ship and a Lost Jurassic World area and there are exciting plans to cater for a wide range of events and activities. The newest addition is the Gulliver’s Gears area which includes a new roller coaster – the Grand Prix Racer, a car-fari, dodge city dodgems, a new play area and an expanded farm. Motor lovers can also enjoy a special vintage car area with a range of classic cars on show.
