“Keeping Families in Mind” is an established and innovative service from Sheffield Mind, funded by the Ministry of Defence, working in partnership with Rotherham and Barnsley Mind. It offers therapeutic support to the families of serving and veteran armed forces personnel living in South Yorkshire.

Our service is available to;

  • Anyone who has a family member currently serving in the Armed Forces
  • Anyone who has a family member who is an Armed Forces Veteran

Family members include:

  • Partners
  • Parents
  • Siblings
  • Child
  • Carer

This service is available for families over the age of 18.

We support family members living in South Yorkshire regardless of where their relative is currently living or stationed.

Please contact us to check eligibility.

We provide free, confidential counselling from a qualified (BACP registered) therapist.  We offer a maximum of up to 16 sessions and currently there is no waiting list. The service due to Covid is being offered by telephone counselling and video counselling via zoom on a Thursday.

We also run monthly activity groups across South Yorkshire. Our support groups encourage peer support and provide people with the space to talk and be heard, as well as to listen to others. Groups are open to families of currently serving personnel and families of veterans. Please contact us for more details of our monthly groups.

I enclose a leaflet about the service and referral form, upon completion of any referral form contact will be made with the client and an assessment carried out, currently as highlighted above there is no waiting list to access the counselling service.
