Staff from Mears Group are celebrating following a recent family golf event which raised thousands for a local and national charity.

The team from the facilities management company, based at Rotherham United’s football ground, organised the golf and family fun day at Roundwood Golf and Social Club and raised in excess of £7,000 for Dementia UK and Millers Memory Club – a support group set up by Rotherham United Football Club (RUFC) for people facing degenerative brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

Around 400 people attended the event and enjoyed a host of activities throughout the day including an auction, raffle and activities for the kids.

Sam Hall, Mears General Manager, said; “The desire to make a positive difference in the community has always been at the heart of our business and the Golf Family Fun Day was no exception. We’re absolutely delighted to have been able to raise much-needed funds for a brilliant local charity as well as supporting the vital work of Dementia UK”.

Kevin Woodcock, Managing Director of Mears FM, added; “I’m so proud of the FM Rotherham Team who worked together to put on a great day. Raising funds for such a vital cause is very inspirational and will be put to good use. I’d also like to pass on our thanks to Roundwood Golf and Social Club who hosted and supported the event.”

The event was such a success that there are plans for it take place annually.

The Millers Memory Club meets once a month in the Community Sports Trust’s recreational area on the ground floor of the football club and anyone is welcome to attend.
