In Wellspring we aim to make a real difference by raising the expectations and ambitions of every young person in our care and the communities we serve.

Academy Trusts are both charities and companies.  We are seeking some special individuals to join the Trust’s Board and specialist committees, bringing their skills, experience and passion to contribute to the next stage of our extremely exciting and rewarding journey.

We exist for the benefit of the young people in our care, to support and nurture them in every way possible in achieving their potential and aspirations whilst becoming responsible and kind members of society at a time when there are so many external influences and potential distractions.

After forming the Trust with just one primary school in Barnsley we now have 25 schools within the Wellspring family – stretching from Leeds to North Yorkshire and across to Lincolnshire – with our Support Centre remaining in Barnsley.  We’re delighted to have recently been selected to run a further three brand new schools, adding to the eight we’ve already developed in the last three years.  Over half of our schools are ‘special’ or ‘alternative provision’, supporting children and young people with a wide range of additional needs.

Ethics and values are at the heart of our culture.  We are known for our integrity, our commitment to inclusive practice and the quality of the service we provide to those in our care.  We believe that education is the vehicle for improved outcomes for all.  We champion inclusive education, stronger communities and improving life chances.  We are passionate about our social purpose.

We celebrate the diverse nature of our very special community and are keen for our governance structures to reflect the communities in which our schools sit.

Our achievements are substantial:  new and strengthened schools, a stable financial position and a sustainable future, enhanced premises and a number of non-profit and charitable enterprises through which we advance our agenda.  We have focused on the quality of our service to those in our care and have also invested massively in our buildings and resources.

We would love to talk to you about the opportunities which are available.  If you want to know more please email Karen Froggatt, Clerk to the Trust Board, on [email protected], after which we’ll contact you to arrange a chat.

In the words of Nelson Mandela, ‘Our children are the rock on which our futures will be built and our greatest asset as a nation.  They will be the leaders of our country, the creators of our national wealth and those who care for and protect our people’
