Staff, students, parents and carers from Wath Academy are celebrating as they receive a ‘Good’ Ofsted report with four out of five areas being highlighted as ‘Outstanding’.

This is a real turn around for the Academy, which was placed in special measures following a 2017 report. On the back of the report Wath joined Maltby Learning Trust – Multi Academy Trust (MLT) in 2019.

The report praises the Sixth Form provision as ‘Outstanding’ as well as the leadership and management, personal development and behaviours and attitudes, it states:

“Pupils learn to have the highest expectations of success at this inclusive school. They aim to achieve standards of high aspirations, act with integrity and adopt a positive mindset in all they do. Pupils are reminded of these standards in all aspects of school life, including throughout the sixth form.”

Liam Ransome, Principal at Wath Academy, said: “We are absolutely thrilled with our latest report and see this as a significant step forward for the Academy. Although we are delighted with the outcome, we see this as just the start of our exciting journey. Staff, students, parents and carers have put in a tremendous amount of hard work and thoroughly deserve the positive report.

“I was particularly pleased to see that the report recognised that our students enjoy their lessons and feel challenged and supported by our teachers.

“Also highlighted, are the exceptional development opportunities that our students have that extend their learning beyond the classroom.”

The report raises the excellent progress students make and the calm and orderly way they behave. Importantly it emphasises that pupils are happy and safe in the academy environment and are well prepared for their next steps in education or employment.

“There are so many positives to take from this inspection, from the way our students behave, learn, and succeed, to the excellent teachers who are recognised as being well trained and enthusiastic.

“We are extremely proud of this outcome, and we know that our students, staff and the wider community will be too,” added Mr Ransome.
