Rejus Announce 10 Year Sponsorship with Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
Rejus has sponsored Campsmount over the past four years, and during the 19/20 Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) season the students donated 1,950 hours of their time for voluntary service to the local community. The social value of those hours is a staggering £8482. A huge congratulations is in order for the hard work the students have contributed.
The school itself has embraced the DofE as part of it’s efforts to encourage student development, making the opportunity part of their ASPIRE programme.
This is why Rejus has chosen to reignite our partnership, this time directly with the DofE, in a move that will help more students and guarantee longevity to the arrangement.
Our original agreement with Campsmount means that we sponsor all students in year 9 to take part in the DofE bronze award, and we’re thrilled to announce that we’re now entering a 10 year arrangement that will provide more opportunities for more students.
The agreement is to sponsor Campsmount Academy via the DofE award for 10 years, allowing all students to participate in completing their Bronze award. The system works on an opt out basis, encouraging more students to participate in the free opportunity. Students then have the option to progress onwards to the silver or even gold award, all sponsored by Rejus.
Releasing a statement on the sponsorship, company Director Mat Lynds said;
“It has been a very personal journey for me, stemming from my own childhood experiences during a tough time for many in a mining area, to our children going to the same school as myself and their experiences.
In 4 years we’ve seen numbers increase 8 fold and rising. Last year the school came 32nd in the country for delivering charitable hours in the community. This year we are set to be 7th in the north of England, and hopefully top 20 nationally. Just to put that in context, that includes all the public schools, military schools, Cadets, privileged schools. Some achievement for an ex-mining community!
The message being to the kids, that you can achieve, you can compete, you can be the best, let alone the personal development that is intrinsic to the award.”
