Magna is being given a regal makeover to mark a special weekend of fun to celebrate the coronation bank holiday weekend.

With plenty to see and do throughout the weekend, the jewel in the crown will see the return of Magna Mayhem, which will see Magna’s main hall transformed into the region’s largest inflatable zone.

Offering youngsters the chance to bounce, bop and boogie their way through the coronation bank holiday weekend, the incredible inflatable extravaganza will feature a giant inflatable helter-skelter, bouncy castles, an assault course and much more.

For younger adventurers, Magna’s soft play zone will also be open throughout the coronation weekend, and anyone visiting the centre will be given the chance to take part in a special trail as they navigate their way through over 100 different hands-on exhibits, with prizes on offer for those who complete it.

Crowning off the special weekend, guests will be given the chance to explore some of the newly installed exhibits inside Magna’s revamped air pavilion, which opened its doors last month. New exhibits include pedal-powered airships allowing children to navigate their way through the skies, blast pump-powered rockets into orbit, as well as trying their hand at guiding scarves through a range of colour jet-propelled tubes. The air zone also gives visitors the chance to play on an air powered organ, experience a real tornado and much more.

Kevin Tomlinson, Chief Executive, Magna Science Adventure Centre, said:

“The coronation weekend is a special moment in history for our country, and we wanted to create something memorable and give youngsters the chance to get involved with the celebrations.

We’ll be rolling out the bunting, and with a packed programme of activities to enjoy, there’s plenty to see and do, from exploring our newly revamped air pavilion to bouncing, jumping and dancing through the Magna Mayhem experience.”

Magna Mayhem will open its doors on Sunday 7th and Monday 8th May between 10:30am and 4:30pm.

A pre-booked timeslot is not required, giving youngsters the chance to spend as much or as little time jumping, dancing and exploring during their visit, and refreshments are available in the Refuel café. Magna’s outdoor Sci-Tek adventure playground will also be open throughout the weekend.

Tickets for Magna Mayhem cost £7.00 per child. There is no additional fee for supervising adults. Please note that tickets for Magna Mayhem cannot be purchased in advance. Holders of annual passes are also eligible to purchase tickets for Magna Mayhem and should present their pass on arrival. The Magna Science Adventure Centre gives visitors the chance to experience four elements: Fire, Air, Water and Earth, which provide a range of hands-on activities for families to enjoy. Located in the dramatic setting of one of the largest steel production facilities in the UK, the exhibit also gives visitors an insight into the history of steel making, culminating in the Big Melt show, which sees one of the centre’s original electric arc furnaces fire back into life, during a spectacular pyrotechnic show taking place throughout the day.
