Gulliver’s Valley expands events offering
Gulliver’s Valley has announced exciting plans to kickstart the next phase of its development by establishing the South Yorkshire attraction as a leading events venue for the region.
The Rotherham theme park is launching ‘Venue in the Valley’ which aims, as covid restrictions ease, to expand on its current offering by providing space for a whole host of indoor and outdoor events including community activities, festivals, band nights, theatre shows, corporate events, children’s football camps and much more.
Opened in July 2020, the 250-acre resort has faced challenges due to the coronavirus pandemic but with confidence now increasing for a return to more normal activities soon, Gulliver’s Valley is looking to the future once again and hoping to maximise the commercial opportunities available to benefit the local economy.
Indoors, Gulliver’s Valley boasts a large theatre as well as meeting rooms, break out rooms, themed areas and even climbing walls for activities such as team building. Outdoors there is plenty of space for a wide variety of event options.
Julie Dalton, managing director of Gulliver’s Theme Park Resorts, said: “Gulliver’s is very much a family company and our ethos for Gulliver’s Valley, along with our three other parks across the country, has always been that we are not just about rides and attractions. Creating memories and providing a whole range of experiences to our communities is also really important and that is where we see ‘Venue in the Valley’ fitting into the market.
“Working with Village Screen, we’ve already established a popular drive thru cinema at the resort but that is just the start of our plans as we want to tap into the corporate side of things as well as making sure Gulliver’s Valley becomes a community hub in this area for all sorts of events and occasions.
“Gulliver’s Valley was never just about being a theme park, we always planned to make best use of the resources we have here in terms of the facilities and outdoor space available, and working with other partners, businesses and attractions in this area, spearhead the regeneration of Rother Valley. We want to create more jobs for local people and put Gulliver’s Valley firmly on the map as a tourist, leisure and hospitality destination.
“As is the case for many businesses, the pandemic has brought difficulties that we’ve had to navigate over the last 12 months and we have not been able to do certain things as quickly as we would have liked. However, with the recent roadmap announcements it means we are able to do more so we are in a much stronger position.
“Since reopening in April, the theme park has been sold out in advance each weekend so far so we know the demand is there for Gulliver’s Valley. But now it’s about expanding what we provide and continuing to put ourselves at the very heart of the community we are in as well as playing a larger part in growing the leisure and hospitality industry in South Yorkshire and helping to secure the future prosperity of the area. We are confident Venue in the Valley can be an important element of this.”
