Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber member Mark Smith has been elected to serve as an International Vice President in 2020 for the Junior Chamber International.  JCI is a global network of young active citizens made up of 180,000 members in 120 countries that aim to provide development opportunities to empower young people to create positive change.

Mark who runs Make Your Mark UK, a training and consultancy business and supports the Chamber in his role as Policy and Representation Officer, has been a member of JCI since 2012 and is currently the National President for JCI UK this year.  At the JCI World Congress in Tallinn, Estonia last week, he was elected as one of seventeen Vice Presidents for 2020.  He will work closely with his assigned countries in Europe: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Monaco, Poland, Turkey and the Ukraine, as well as serving on the global JCI Board of Directors. The JCI World President in 2020 is Itai Manyere from Zimbabwe.

Mark said “Since joining JCI several years ago, I have developed in so many ways: my confidence has grown; I have had unique opportunities to deliver training in many countries; I have friends and business contacts all over the world and ultimately I have become a better version of myself! I would encourage anyone in their 20s and 30s to get involved in JCI – it literally has been life changing!”.
