Amy Taylor Diversity & Inclusion Committee
Amy is an Engineering Geologist specialising in problem soils, a subject that she worked on for her PhD, completed at Sheffield University, in which she studied heave in pyritic soils. She is a self-confessed nerd, has a well-known knitting and crafting habit, and is part of charity fund-raising group BluCrew who have worked together for many years raising money for different charities across South Yorkshire.
Amy currently works as the principal Geotechnical Engineer for Taylor Tuxford Associates, a family firm that provides multidisciplinary architectural and engineering consultancy services, based in Rotherham.
Because she has spent several years working in a predominantly male field, Amy is acutely aware of how those in minority or less commonly represented groups can be further marginalised without most people even being aware that it is happening. She believes that groups such as this committee are needed to make systemic changes to ensure that the workplaces of the future are equal for everyone
