Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce is proud to deliver the development of the Local Skills Improvement Plan for Barnsley and Rotherham to accelerate growth and the adoption of digital skills in the region.
The LSIP will be delivered in conjunction with the Doncaster Chamber and Sheffield Chamber to deliver a wider South Yorkshire initiative. Find out more about the plan and how you can get involved as a member, employer or HE/FE provider below.
The Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) is an initiative funded by the Department for Education to provide an agreed set of deliverables that employers, providers and stakeholders can get behind to help drive change in skills in South Yorkshire.
Further to the Government’s Skills for Jobs White Paper, The South Yorkshire Local Skills Improvement Plan will seek to put local employers at the heart of the skills system. As a designated Employer Representative Body (ERB) Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber will work closely with employers, providers, and key stakeholders to develop evidence-based, credible, and actionable goals and targets to deliver change in the region.
The LSIP will identify the skills needs of local employers and the shift required in the local area to make sure post-16 technical education and training provision meets the requirements of the local labour market.
We need your help to form The South Yorkshire Local Skills Improvement and shape future skills for our region.
The three Chambers are hosting a series of events to provide a platform for discussions around the LSIP project with the opportunity to share the skills gap in their industry. Throughout these events we’ll also discuss the priority changes required in the local area to help ensure post-16 technical education meets the requirements of employers in the region.
