Course Overview

This course is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification, specifically designed for those who are appointed to act as a First Aider in their workplace. It is also ideal for people who have a specific responsibility to provide first aid in voluntary and community activities.

Over a 3 day period, Learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of First Aid situations including:-

• The Aims and Role of the First Aider
• Minimising infections
• Recording accidents & incidents
• Primary and Secondary Surveys
• Unconsciousness Casualty including Recovery Position
• Adult CPR & AED
• Choking
• Anaphylaxis, Poisons, Asthma and Chest Trauma
• Heart Attacks and Stroke Patients
• Wound Management and Bleeding
• Burns and Scalds
• Sprains, Strains, and Fractures
• Diabetic Emergencies and Seizures

Assessment & Qualification

Assessment is by a series of practical assessments throughout the duration of the course followed by multiple choice examinations at the end of the first day and the third day. Please note that photographic ID is required in order to sit the exams.

Successful delegates will receive a certificate, valid for three years. Before the expiry of this certificate, students who wish to remain First Aiders must take a shorter First Aid Requalification course, which will re-authorise them for a further three years.
