TransAction Translators Ltd based in Broomhill, Sheffield, may well be the oldest remaining language company set up in the region – the secret of its longevity: its commitment to a quality end product – an accurately rendered translation you can use in the real world.
Established 1983 with full membership of the Association of Translation Companies (UK) and full professional indemnity insurance, its two project managers Maryline Tergella and Daniel Collis are committed to providing quality translations, based on their combined experience of over 55 years.
Where some translation companies merely run a text through a computer or expect a translator to do all the work, thanks to a clear, friendly and flexible approach when liaising with clients and translators alike, TransAction assumes the role of your translation department – selecting from a long-standing network of professional mother-tongue freelance linguists with specialist knowledge of your field.
All translations are checked in-house sentence-by-sentence and reconciled against any client requirements or internationalisation issues, identified before or during the process, with optional further levels of checking by other linguists and proof-readers. Computer-aided translation (CAT) tools are used to reduce costs wherever possible – for example translate duplicated text only once (where there is no difference in context or meaning) – and ensure consistency of terminology and style in all projects. These can involve the bi- or multi-lingual translation, or localisation of, amongst others:
From small sites to enterprise-wide intranets
Company literature, brochures, press releases, newsletters, presentations
Instruction manuals, safety information, training manuals, user guides, packaging
Patent-related documents, safety data sheets, training manuals
Tenders, contracts, declarations of performance, declarations of conformity
Research papers, studies, reports, articles
Museum exhibitions, museum websites, scripts for museum tours, virtual visits
