Motorpoint hosted not one but two Drive in Cinema’s this year in Sheffield in aid of Cash for Kids.
The UK’s largest independent car retailer, which has been based in South Yorkshire since 2017, put on special outdoor screenings of classic Rom Com ‘Pretty Woman’ last weekend in the grounds of its seven-acre branch on the Sheffield Business Park in aid of the popular charity. It also hosted Sheffield’s first-ever Drive In Bingo prior to the movie with a host of prizes up for grabs for the winners.
And, the sell-out socially distanced event, which attracted over 1,000 over people across the two nights, helped to raise £8,750 for Cash for Kids. Based in Sheffield, Cash for Kids works tirelessly to help children under the age of 18 who are sick, disadvantaged or in need of extra support. Over £25,000 has now been raised for Cash for Kids over the last three years through the Motorpoint Sheffield Drive In Cinema nights.
Chris Goodison, General Manager of Motorpoint in Sheffield, said: “It was fantastic to see so many people having a wonderful socially distanced time at Motorpoint watching ‘Pretty Woman’. It’s been a really tough year in terms of fundraising for Cash for Kids so it’s humbling to have been able to raise such a large amount of money to support the work of the charity across Sheffield and South Yorkshire.”
Allan Ogle, Charity Manager at Cash for Kids, added: “I really can’t thank Motorpoint enough for hosting two Drive In Cinemas in aid of Cash for Kids. It was a huge undertaking, given the current COVID-19 regulations, but the response from film goers was absolutely brilliant and the money it generated will make such a difference to the lives of the young people we help.”
Motorpoint Sheffield adopted Cash for Kids as its charitable partner in 2017 following the opening of its branch close to both Junction 33 and 34 of the M1. Based on Europa Link, it stocks over 500 low mileage, nearly new cars and light commercial vehicles available from over 30 different manufacturers. Every vehicle comes with the balance of manufacturer’s warranty backed by the Motorpoint Price Promise. This means Motorpoint will refund the difference to any customer within seven days of their order if they find the same car cheaper from a competitor. As an added bonus, it will also give the customer £50 worth of Amazon vouchers to spend.
Motorpoint has also made contactless collection standard at all of its branches in the wake of COVID-19. This facility allows customers to adhere to the latest social distancing guidelines and choose, buy and drive away without any physical contact with a member of staff. This includes Motorpoint’s Unaccompanied Test Drive offering where customers can test drive their chosen vehicle without someone from Motorpoint being present in the car.
